We see the news frenzy about immigration, a topic that triggers polarizing reactions. We affirm our own beliefs, knowing we are absolutely correct and The Other is wrong.
We see, but we don’t hear.
We react, but we don’t engage.
Well, we have engaged at Searching For Identity (SFI). We have discovered an exceptional American immigrant story, inspired by love and loss, in search of family and determined to leave this world for the better.
Leaving his parents behind, Joseph A. Strasser fled Nazi Germany with his younger brother, escaping due to the determination of a courageous American couple. In the United States, through hard-scrabble perseverance and constant work, Joseph A. Strasser today is the definition of the American Immigrant Dream. He became a successful businessman and ultimately, a very special philanthropist who lives by the philosophy, “that we may leave this world for the better, because our actions are based on responsible good will.”
